Who We Are

The Cape Cod Astronomical Society is a group of amateur astronomers who enjoy both looking at the beauty of the night sky and teaching others about it.

We are dedicated to:

  • Providing instruction and education via our lecture program, through work with local schools, and through our star parties and events
  • Providing an opportunity for those who wish to view the skies through our telescope facilities.
  • Supporting those with special interests in astronomy, space science and related fields.

We meet once a month to share ideas and observing experiences, and to participate in an astronomy or science presentation.   CCAS also sponsors regular public “star parties” at the Werner Schmidt Observatory, as well as meetings where members can do casual observing and conduct scientific studies.

These are the current officers of the Cape Cod Astronomical Society:

President – Jim Lynch

Vice President – Ashish Dutta

Treasurer – Ken Brink

Secretary – Jonathan Hatch
